Book of Dust The Rose Field - by Phillip Pullman

A few people were interested when I mentioned in a book thread that I was reading The Rose Field. For those that aren't familiar. It is the last book in the 2nd trilogy by Phillip Pullman. The first was His Dark Materials and the second the Books of Dust. I had found the 2nd book of dust a difficult read so I wasn't sure what i would think of this and how I would find this series ending after starting it over 20 years ago.

I really enjoyed reading The Rose Field. However, I'm not sure how well I understood it. A lot of the series is metaphorical which is not something I find easy.

It didn't feel like a definite end to the series. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I dislike unknowns and uncertainty so usually prefer books with a definite ending. However, after all the events of the book I'm not sure a happily ever after ending would have been appropriate and I would have hated a devastating end so perhaps an open ending was the best decision.

I don't want to put too much detail about the book incase anyone ever decides to read it. But I think underneath all the drama and twists and turns, it is really a book about finding yourself.
