Weather updated

As we now know that the fix may take a while, I am starting a new weather thread, as I am getting frustrated with notifications regarding the weather that I can't read.

I am looking forward to tomorrow as we are due to get sunshine. I have plans to get out in my garden where colour is beginning to show.

  • We had a storm last night, so anything not tied down blew about.

Now it's  warm, wet and windy

I did get out in the garden yesterday and cut my budliea right back and added it to the dead hedge, but I need the ground to dry out so as I can get out there properly. I;ve no idea when we'll see the sun again.

  • cut my budliea right back and added it to the dead hedge

That's a good idea! I often have far too many cuttings for the green bin during Spring and didn't know what to do other than piling up the rest. I could start a dead hedge behind my greenhouse, where there is just ivy. Do you need to dig some into the ground for the first layer? Or use canes?

  • Any woody bits and bobs, like budliea branches can just be stacked, I've used canes to contain it and stop it spilling out over the rest of the garden, but I just keep piling stuff on, it gradually rots down. All sorts of creatures overwinter or shelter in a dead hedge, I've certainly seen an increase in the biodiversity of my garden since I've had miine.
