Back to the thankless tast of looking for wellies

I was really happy at xmas, I go some new wellies, now they've got a hole in them somewhere and I'm getting a wet foot. So now begins the thankless task of trying to find some more, hopefully that will last longer than 6 weeks. Amazon tries to give me anything but what I've asked for and many of the other sites are just as bad. There are times when I really despair and get depressed because something like getting some new wellingtons seems so unachievable.

  • Joules Wellibobs are good, plus I really like the name Wellibobs.

  • I tried a pair of those on in the garden centre and they didn't fit, thanks though Mads.

A friend has spent half the night searching for me and has bought me a pair online, they should arrive tomorrow so I'll see if they fit or have to go back.

I feel so stupid not being able to get something as simple as a pair of wellies that fit and getting upset over it, but I can' take my dog out without them as everywhere is so wet, I can't even get up the top of the garden to let the chickens in and out and feed them.

The poweres that decide what we can and can't buy and when and if we can get it, have decided that nobody needs wellingtons at this time of year and that we should all be buying sandals ready for summer, just the same as they decide we don't need slippers after xmas or proper PJ's.

  • Wellies are an essential item and they have to be right. I don’t think that’s stupid at all. If they don’t fit you get blisters and make your feet hurt. Especially annoying when the dog has to go out once or twice or even three times daily.

I’m the same with flip flops. I live in them as I get too hot in shoes and it takes me weeks to find a decent pair with cushioning.

  • I think most of them are leather or suede, they might even be some in the sale this seasons ones aren't out yet.

  • I have the opposite problem wide at the front narrow at the back. I shall check them out as I’m always on the hunt for decent cushioning & there will always be a next pair. The toe piece has to be fabric not plastic that’s about my only requirement in addition to cushioning. Thank you.

  • Moshulu do a good range of both mens and womens flip flop type of sandal, many have cork comfort soles.

My problem is having triangular shaped feet, wide at the top and very narrow at the heel so they often flop about and weirdly they can be both to big and to small at the same time.
