Do you revert to childishness when someone annoys you?

This is the first time I've confessed, so I'm hoping to read your own ways of dealing with excruciating behaviour! You might remember my problems with a new neighbour. One of her 'naughties' was siting planters on my property then complaining when I moved them. After a few days of provocation, I threw her largest planter on her lawn. Next day, I received a police visit (she'd complained  without revealing her provocation). There were other incidents I won't bore you with. Now, when she bangs my wall in the early hours [not often since her police warning about provoking me!], I do an 'air gun' mime - pointing my fingers like a gun towards her wall with appropriate sound effects, but not so loud she'll hear. I vary this with a Gatling gun 'attack' with appropriate sound effects. Occasionally I do air tomahawks or a bit of mooning [and I have a large 'moon']. It relieves stress and makes me smile, but would surprise ex-colleagues with whom I was always formal.

  • This is brilliant, I love the way to defuse the tension and annoyance of what sounds like a really nuisance neighbour.

i feel silly saying this, but a while back, me and my husband had a thing where if one would say 'could you clean this up', the answer was always 'I can clean up -your face'. He has a bit of a silly/mishcehious streak, so I tell the kids if they are ever being cheeky they get that from him.

  • Yes, it helps defuse situations so don't feel silly about anything!  A while ago I said to one of the HA's, 'can I have her dog if she dies?' [It's a cute thing and I saw on my Ring doorbell that she pulled the lead hard as it turned toward my property to greet me]. Thankfully, both PCSO and my landlord have seen through her. She's  lost out because I've run out of empathy.

  • Yeah I think some people aren't worth the energy to get upset about, and you need some way to deflect the anger. Honestly, I think the world would be a better place if it did, I think you'd be brilliant at teaching an anger management course!

Poor little dog, some people shouldn't be allowed to keep pets if they can't be nice to any living thing! (I hope she stands in some of it's poop).
