The Epstein Files. Should Peter Mandleson be investigated for treason?

I think he should, he knowingly gave confidential information to someone outside of government, potentially causing harm to this countries interests. I don't think Misconduct in Public Office reflects the seriousness of what he did, it's a very vague offence, not quite law, but still people get prosecuted for it.

I think Sarah Fergusson's role in all this, espcially with regard to Andrew Montbatten Windsor, her ex husband and his activities with Epstein, I wonder how much she knows and waht esle will be revealed?

  • There's now evience that Andrew did meet Virginia Guifree and that the photo he can't remember is real, this has been found in further files, this time from Gislaine Maxwell to Epstein.

  • the rich are just as capable of falling for a good conman as the rest of us.

Yes that's right. I saw Richard Branson's photo in there too. BBC have started stating with every new revelation that it does not mean someone is guilty because their name or image has been found. The behaviour of these men, and Ferguson, is unbelievable, that they have status and money and abused these privileges. There ought to be a legal system for making them pay back money accrued from abusing their position.

  • He is already being investigated and once evidence is collated and if it reaches the threshold for treason, it would be considered then.

Right now, I am more concerned about evidence of criminal activity and careless behaviours being hidden and potentially destroyed.

The longer documents are hidden and in the case of the US, the Epstein files are not released in full or have heavy redactions, the easier it is for people to cover up for good and for victims to be obliterated.

The more stuff that comes to light, the greater my admiration for Virginia Giuffre who paid the ultimate price. In the meantime these feeble-minded people continue to lie and waffle their way out of any sort of accountability. There isn’t any real desire in government to act — any action they have taken has been forced upon them. The overarching desire is self-preservation (and that also goes for members of other parties ) which isn’t for the good of the country.

  • Because as far as I know Mandleson isn't accused of any sex crimes, I do think Andrew Mountbatton Windsor should be further investigated as should his ex wife Sarah Furgusson.

It would seem that many files are being pulled after complaints from victims that not only thier faces were shown, but email addresses, bank details and phone numbers. Some victim's statements are so heavily redacted, I wonder what the point in releasing them at all was?

I guess the extent of Epsteins contacts shows tha tthe rich are just as capable of falling for a good conman as the rest of us. I wonder how many people met him quite inocently and ended up being dragged into the mire? I suspect that Epstein did have some perectly legitimate gatherings, friendships, etc to give a veneer of legitimacy to what was happening underneath the seemingly respectable. I wonder if this was part of the grooming process for many of his victims?

  • The whole sordid mess needs to be brought into the open. It is incredible that the rich, famous and powerful were all dazzled and attracted to Epstein for whatever reason.

It seems the DOJ in USA is withholding a great deal more files as they are classed as under investigation. In other words hidden away from the light of public scrutiny.

This is not just about underage females being used as sexual favours but suspect that males were involved too.

We have to be careful not to accuse without evidence and just by being mentioned in the files does not make someone guilty. However, the old saying that there is no smoke without fire could be in play.

As for the sleazy mandelson he should be fully investigated.

It is clear to me that the rich and powerful think they are above the law and have no morals.

  • Treason is mentioned, but not Child Abuse?

It was like the front page of last Sunday's People; showing the ex-Duke of York lying on top of a 'woman', when the whole issue was [edited by mod] UNDERAGE GIRLS!

  • I agree it doesn't seem to equate the seriousness of the alleged offence(s) with the wording of 'misconduct in a .....'

I still can't believe you can resign from the Lords but keep your title? No wonder they are trying to rush legislation through....
An unelected chamber with no accountability?! Classic Westminster.

I suspect there's a lot more to come out ref this story.
