To iron or not to iron - that is the question

I used to iron far more when I was younger. I sometimes feel guilty because I rarely iron bedclothes - I don't know why as I'm the only one in the house! I usually iron tops and trousers but not household linens. A friend used to iron her underwear and even shoe laces! What do you think? Is it lazy not to, or is it foolish to worry about something so trivial? Does this represent dignity or wasting valuable life-time?

  • I haven't ironed things for years! Can't see the point. If you fold things nicely and put them in the airing cupboard they look just fine! My mother used to iron everything - even socks and pants!. Wore out the carpet with her ironing board up every evening. Throwback to the 50s I think... By contrast, once I sorted out a slightly creased lapel on my jacket with hair straighteners!  Did the job though! Joy
