To iron or not to iron - that is the question

I used to iron far more when I was younger. I sometimes feel guilty because I rarely iron bedclothes - I don't know why as I'm the only one in the house! I usually iron tops and trousers but not household linens. A friend used to iron her underwear and even shoe laces! What do you think? Is it lazy not to, or is it foolish to worry about something so trivial? Does this represent dignity or wasting valuable life-time?

  • I have ‘non-iron’ cotton bedding that launders well without ironing if I use the tumble dryer. If I dry the bedding outside, I need to spend a little more time shaking it out after removing from the washing machine before hanging on the line.

I rarely iron anything else except some of my smarter tops.

Generally if clothes are smoothed out after washing they look fine.
