The joys of cloud watching

I joined The Cloud Appreciation Society  many years ago and find great solace in this simple past time, so want to share it. I bought 'A Cloud a Day' and other books as a Christmas treat. You don't need to join but can receive emails or buy their books 2nd hand on Amazon. Many members are meteorologists so you learn about weather patterns too. I enjoy finding shapes in clouds, a bit like the Rorschach inkblot test. I set my bird feeding station in front of my bedroom window, so can spend blissful hours watching birds and clouds. I hope some of you try this simple hobby which is great for stress relief.

  • Thanks Marianne. I’ll have a look at that.

Cloud watching is a great way to practice mindfulness. I did a meteorology course years ago and learned about predicting weather patterns using clouds. For instance, cumulonimbus clouds can indicate heavy rain, hail, wind and thunderstorms.
