Hi, i have a 3yr son who i think has autism or aspergers. He has a few symptoms of the both. He has speech theropy and is under a pediatrician which we last saw 2 months ago. The pediatrician from what i had told her felt no need to refer him at that present time but would see him again in three months. Since then he has got worse with his behavour etc. I have become a bag of nerves, he throws anything he can get his hands on at his sister sometimes for no reason and when hes with his cousins im on pins as he tries to throw things and hurt them. As many times as i try to explain or discipline he just doesnt get it and goes staight back to do it again its like hes not faised or understood that hes been told off. Where ever we go like shopping or resterants etc we spend most of are time in toilets as he is absessed and gets extremly stressed if we dont take him there to flush the toilet and do the hand washing. I could go on and on does anything of what i am saying ring a bell ?

    What sort of discipline have you tried with him? Are you consistent in applying your sanctions? I would guess that removing him, from the room where he has committed his offence, to a quiet room where there are no toys and fewer distractions until he has calmed down might be a good tactic. Once he has calmed down you can explain why you have done this, still in the quiet place, and then take him back in to rejoin the others. If you do the same thing every time he might get the message but you have to be consistent and firm in doing the same thing each time.
