Forum broken?

I'm getting an orange banner at the top of pages saying "An error occurred while trying to execute a scr...". The rest is cut off so not sure if there is more info.

In case it is something with my setup because it often can be, I'm using firefox mobile, and I use pi-hole for ad and tracker blocking.

  • I'm not sure what software the community is using, if it's custom, or how much it is costing to run, but it may be worth considering something widely used like https://www.discourse.org/

  • I’ve had a look under the hood with the available tools - and it’s pretty dated from what I can gather. jQuery and strange network calls - it all looks pretty dated. I suspect they are putting plasters on a forum that is now running legacy tech and it’s got to the point of having so much technical debt now it’s costly to enhance. I am a member of an official ADHD charity group and they simply use Discord for their adult forum. It’s a breath of fresh air and extremely simple to use and setup. There would be nothing stopping someone from setting up their own Discord (or equivalent) group for adults and joining that instead.

  • Yer I have too looked at the network requests. Allowing user-submitted HTML was raising warning flags that I was tempted to test out, but resisted Joy

The problem with just starting up a forum elsewhere is everything else along with it. You have to work out all of the moderation, how to promote it, etc. NAS has resources on other things so people find the forum at the same time. There are successful groups elsewhere.

My suggestion of discourse was more that it is a very similar style, and software as a service I believe so minimal effort from NAS on implementing and developing the technical aspects, hosting, etc. man shrugging: light skin tone
