Creative Project Presentation for Autistic Women in the workplace

Hi everyone, my name is Emma I’m an Occupational Therapy student but I am also autistic. Our class has a project where we have to come up with a creative intervention for a target population. Ours is helping autistic women recognise their strengths for the workplace. We are doing this by making a group where they make Dreamcatchers- where each thread represents a trait they think is a strength, the beads representing their reasonable adjustments and the feathers representing future aspirations and dreams. If any autistic women feel comfortable, I’d love to hear your thoughts but also any experiences in the workplace where you’ve felt unsupported, or your worries surrounding being autistic? Thanks for your help! Slight smile

  • Hi

    Welcome to the community.

What a great intervention! I’m retired now but if I had known I was autistic when employed, I would have loved to have felt free enough to make a Dreamcatcher with threads of my strengths. The threads of varying lengths represent our experience very well, much better than a linear spectrum.
