What's your favourite, cheapest home-made meal?

In these economically tight times.... Mine is 1/2 tin of Tesco Stockwell beans [28p a tin] + 1 slice of Tesco white toastie [0.75p loaf] = 14p + 5p = 19p.

Sometimes I push the boat out and eat 2 slices Joy.

  • I buy mixed tinned beans, I puree a tin of tommatoes add some salt and let that simmer down to a reduction. When that reaches a sauce like consistancy I carefully fold in the beans and warm them through.

Under the grill I lightly toast some slices  homemade sourdough until golden, removing this quickly I then cover with a dash of pomace oil and spoon the bean mixture over the top.

    Eat promptly.
