  • robj,

    am able to relate as every laptop of mine bar this one [as its a fairly robust toshiba and hasnt frazzled the innards] has been damaged by head banging on it after meltdowns and severe challenging behavior and am unable to have tvs or any other such equipment in bedroom [though recently got a specialist 'tough furniture' brand cabinet] am severely classic autistic and still have the same behaviors that had as a child,and no amount of breakages works;am not able to understand the cause and effect and get very distressed without the laptop.

    even if a child doesnt have autism;when theyre young they struggle with emotion regulation and dont have the communication skills to express how they feel,so to add any form of autism on top it makes it very difficult for kids and it woud be unfair to expect a young HF autistic child to understand cause and effect.

    have just had a google and found these,some of them seem to especialy have decent screen protectors on them;

    www.autismpluggedin.com/cases

    the other option woud be just to buy cheap android tablets off ebay instead, am an owner of a tablet [asus memo] for AAC/communication and autiplan,and have used the ipad before with proloquo2go and think the android is just as good with alexicom [a free AAC program].
