Advent begins!

It’s that time of year again! Advent has begun! Christmas is coming, the decorations and lights are all thinking away and everything has gone all cozy!

Anyone else excited for Christmas? What’s on your Christmas list? How will you spend Christmas?

For me I get a little mini Christmas as my birthday is during advent so when I get my presents I put them under the tree as well.

  • I love the planning - I add something or buy something every few days, culminating in lifting my tree from its outside pot and decorating it. I read all Charles Dickens Christmas books (I have a lovely facsimile illustrated version) - finishing with 'A Christmas Carol' on Christmas Eve, day and Boxing Day. I've bought 2 new art books - Anthony Gormley and Turner's early drawings. I'll also watch my Morse and Sherlock Holmes [Jeremy Brett version] DVD's. Eat and drink of course, having cooked everything beforehand and put it in the freezer.

  • You sound more organised than me! I always wing it because for me if I make plans, they never go to plan and I get in real distress. Me and mum are planning to go to Liverpool on Friday and see the Christmas markets and hopefully get more stuff there (and hopefully some birthday shopping) but I’m worried something will stop us from doing so. As for Christmas I’ll probably watch some SpongeBob Christmas episodes and maybe some Simpsons Christmas episodes as well! Will also hopefully be doing Toy Day on acnh on Christmas Eve as well!

Once Boxing Day comes it’s like a bunch of depressing few days until New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day but when the 2 Jan comes it’s all boring lol

Yes, I find TV helps - because you know others are watching too, so it's a way of 'joining' in at a distance. There are lots of very good programmes. Don't forget i-player et all too. I've been watching retro children's programmes - The Clangers, for example, which is immensely cheering.

  • Omg the clangers! I think I vaguely remember them from a morning kids show when I was little! I actually don’t have a tv licence now so I can’t watch iplayer. Though if I’m honest I always find more depressing or disturbing things on those channels on Christmas Day. I mean the soap operas are always depressing and last year I remember flicking through the channels and my controls played up and I had seen, disturbing things on call the midwife and yeah I was in a bit of a downer afterwards. I keep remembering my mum watching Downton abbey on Christmas Day one year and she said that some character got killed off. I watch paramount + though so that’s how I can access SpongeBob. Not sure if I’ll bother subscribing to Disney though.
