Sensory issues

For people that live on the spectrum can sensory issues get worse when you get older or do they get better? just curious

I'm aged 22 now and people think I'm sensative to noise since i tend to cover my ears if things are too loud and in public places people talking feels loud to mecant describe properly,

I can't stand screaming makes me feel physcillay ill (don't know why)

I'm sensitive to touch as well I don't like people touching me and I have to know, if they touch me without letting me know I freak out and certain fabrics and clothes feel itchy as well can't stand labels

im also sensative to light I have tinted glasses for this to see if that will help

those are the few symptoms I can think of right now

Will these the sensory issues be the same throughout my life?

Do you listen to music when you have your earphones on? You need to choose something that you would like to listen to.

  • Mine gets worse, I also have what are supposed to be the best noise cancelling earphones / ear defenders from Peltor, the problem for me is that I can hear my hear beating when I put them on and that's awful.

I am stuck in a very noisy environment and for the last 2 years people who live here changed from nice to evil, before that it was ok for 8 years, now it's music players, shouters, door slammers, singing, people clapping hands, and I am on edge all day long wondering when the next time the door will be slammed so my hearing is getting more and more sensitive by the day. I have begged, pleaded and grovelled to anyone and everyone for help to find somewhere quiet to live but nobody listens, nobody ever helped, nobody has even come to my place to hear for themselves. I can't take anymore.

I use noice cancelling earphones at work if the noise becomes a problem. I have ones that have different sized ear buds for different sized ears. www.amazon.co.uk/.../B004K09H32

  • Seems like to me some peoples senory issues get better and others get worse

For the ones with noise sensitivity do you find ear plugs help? I've never tried them since I have small ears just wondering if it's worth a try?

  • For me they have got 10 times worse, that is, I am very sensitive to noise and crowds. I always have been to some extent, but recently I have become extremely hypervigilant in this area. I think a bad experience at my flat, from which I am still recovering ( I have been residing at my parents for the last 6 months), has triggered some sort of stress response; so everytime I hear a noise, particularly when I am at home, I feel shaken.

  • I hope they do get better as my 13 yr old is a nightmare to dress, take places etc but the biggest issues are getting her to wear a bra and sanitary protection.  She doesn't care but family and friends keep telling me to make her wear them.
