Pip assessment

The pip decision was promised in around 8 weeks.

I got mine in one week.  Zero points all round.

My assessment was on the 17 Nov,  the letter turning me down was dated 18 Nov. 

That sucks, but on the plus side, you will be able to initiate appeal/reconsideration proceedings straight away. It took about 2 months (if not more) for me to get my PIP decision. I'm still waiting on a mandatory reconsideration after about 3 months. If I have to go to a tribunal I probably won't get anything till next summer. 

I intend to do the mandatory reconsideration tonight.  

The phone assessment was bad because I had difficulty hearing the assessor and asked her to repeat many times.

It makes me so angry reading posts on here about PIP assessments. The whole system is hostile to autistic people. I just wanted to express solidarity with everyone going through this. My son’s award runs out next year and we’re dreading it. It’s all so stressful - and let’s face it it’s not like that by accident - it’s designed to be that way. I know my son (who’s in his twenties) could never cope with the application process on his own as he finds it deeply intimidating and scary. I often wonder just how many people are too scared and exhausted to even try to apply for something that they have every right to claim. It shouldn’t be this way. 

Funnily enough my mandatory reconsideration just came in the post today (3.5 months after I sent it). Got the same 4 points I got last time. They haven't even acknowledged any of the points made in my appeal letter.

I didn't get a choice, they just said telephone assessment and that's it.

Why did you do a telephone assessment? They should have given you a choice. They initially arranged me a webcam thing. So I wrote back and said I don't have a webcam, nor do I have anywhere private to use one even if I did. The letter clearly stated that I can change it, but it took about three months to get an ordinary appointment booked!
