What do I want for xmas?

New knees, but nobody seems to be able to get me those. I never know what I want for xmas and birthdays, it always feels like a yawning gap that I might fall into.

The only things I've asked for are the usual stuff like body lotion and handcream, but I can't think of anythng else, or not that anyone is going to actually buy me.

Suggestions welcome, but what about you lot, what do you want and do you think you have any chance of getting it?

  • Hi, I find gifts you actually are going to use quite nice- my mum’s partner once even got her an automatic vacuum cleaner - it might not be what comes to mind when you think of a gift but I think it was great as it is really useful but not something my mum would have treated herself to. This was quite a large gift though. But maybe you can think of some cooking / kitchen gadgets or utensils? Maybe a sandwich maker/grill or a waffle machine or a new pan or even an airfryer if it’s a big gift? I have one friend who cooks quite a lot so I sometimes get him a cookbook possibly with some of the special spices needed for it. My mum loves boardgames and puzzles so those are always great gifts. I like think fun logic games. In the past my mum also got me books but now we usually prefer to pick our own. I did get my mum a hiking guide though a while ago as she likes walking. A mug is nice too because it is used a lot. Or if you like tea you could ask for a nice set of teas (personally I am too fussy about which ones I like so that wouldn’t be ideal for me). Other people like my stepfather is basically too busy for most things, doesn’t cook and getting him something related to his interests is hard because he has so much already (plus he is a hoarder so I don’t want to add more unneeded items to his collection)- he does like good chocolate or biscuits or sweet treats though so I often just get him something like that- I just have to make sure they don’t look too pretty otherwise he will also end up hoarding them rather than eating them. I really love picking gifts for people. If you really don’t know what to ask for people could always give you a gift voucher on amazon maybe… that’s always going to come in useful. Not sure if any of these things have given you some ideas? I would try to think about what you like to do, eat, cook, etc. Then see if there are any items you actually need or if there is something that you probably wouldn’t treat yourself to but might give you a lot of joy. Or you can get other people to surprise you!! In my family we very rarely ask for gifts but we try to come up with ideas for each other

  • I've run out of space for big kitchen stuff like air fryers and sandwich toasters are always so tiny, I think I'd barely get half a slice of our bread in one. I'm having to follow a strict one in, one out policy for kitchen stuff and I'm not a gadgety person, I've been trying to pare back my kitchen stuff to things I actually use.

Me too - I am a sucker for new stuff.
