I swear!

For those of you that like films (although honestly I think everybody should watch it) I highly recommended watching a film called I swear. Now this is about tourettes and not autism but the message of acceptance is so strong, I feel like it would appeal to anybody with a condition of some description. I also think the more people that see it the better as it really shows ignorant some judgement is and the harm it can cause. I do warn you it is an absolute emotional rollercoaster but really fantastically done.

  • I think I might have watched a documentary in the 80s or 90s about this guy. I remember thinking back then how brave he was. It was a hard watch with very dark moments and some very funny parts.

It's fantastic that his story has been brought to the big screen. Hopefully it will aid understanding of tourettes syndrome and help reduce the stigma surrounding it.

The reviews look good 100% on rotten tomatoes. I would love to watch it.(◍•ᴗ•◍)Heart

  • Very similar to the film. Some of it is definitely dark and some is hilarious. But it has some brilliant lines about acceptance. And just showed how one or two caring people can completely change a person's life. It also massively shows that education is absolutely key when it comes to these things and these attitudes of why should the majority change for the minority absolutely need to go.

I really do hope it will reduce the stigma around tourettes. My only tiny criticism is I think the film should have made it clear that it is a minority of people with tourettes swear. But I'd imagine that at the time a lot of the people who were actually diagnosed did as it was so new. But it's a common misconception that could do with debunking. But everything else about it is absolutely incredible.

  • I find social interaction awkward; regarding saying something off-Broadway. It was especially true, last year, when in Birmingham. Was at the NEC Hilton, for a weekend-long convention, and saw Pakistan Cricket Fans - in Cosplay - heading for a game at Egbaston - while us 'Lesser Thans' anticipated the Euro 2024 Final.

It was also the day after the attempted Assassination of Trump. I was allowing resentment to stew, and brew. Fortunately, I kept it together.

  • Sorry I really don't understand this comment.
