Gggrrrm arrgh

It's done it again, I start a search on Amazon and find it's taken me back to a previous but related search WHY, WHY, does it do this? How dare this supposedly unthinking pile of offal, think that it knows what I want, when I've told it something different? It's like an abusive relationship! I feel like it's gaslighting me.

A major supermarket tried to rip me off earlier too, it had an alleged special offer 4 for £5, and despite having lables confirming this on the shelf, it didnt' at the till, so I challenged them and a supervisor had to go and check and she came back equally confused, but put my stuff through at 4 for £5 as the signage was so unclear and confusing. It feels like a deliberate attempt to get people to buy more than they would if it wasn't on offer, this supermarket has form for this, which is why I always check to make sure. Ggggrrrrr.

I did buy a pretty bush half price in another shop, about the same as the money I saved on the other stuff.

What's made you Ggrr and arrgh lately?

Maybe AI has reached singularity and has chosen to be an abusive, mysoginistic system and is using you to practice on.

It can connect into the supermarket point of sales system, your computer and potentially even your home appliances so could explain a lot.

When was the last time you sacreficed a goat to the computer gods? I try to do it on the second Tuesday of every month without fail Wink

Does paganism allow for the possibility of computer gods?

  • Tell your Mum it's unnatural for mother and daughter to fancy the same man.

    *****************************

We do allow for the divine online, but we don't sacrifice animals and I've never met any Pagans that do, it might have been done in the past, but not now.

I feel as though I've had an abusive relationship with computers, websites and particularly amazon since long before AI.

Assuming this is written to me, I completely agree with you there! I can try and tell my mum that but I can’t seem to get through with her about this celebrity. To me he comes across as a vain guy who thinks he’s nice looking but he really freaks me out but I’m scared to say anything because I’ll upset my mum and then I’ll feel guilty. But I do think she’s getting suckered in. Like when she mentions him she doesn’t get the hint I’m not interested despite me trying (and failing) to change the subject. All I can say is wish me luck, I’m gonna need it!

If this wasn’t meant to be written to me then please forgive me for interrupting

  • First of all it’s ok about the first line being for me Slight smile I can imagine it be much worse if it was an actual partner. I can tell you I’m feeling this way with my “dad” now, I’ve always felt this way but after Bermuda I can’t hide it anymore! As for asking my mum she says oh “celebrity” is worth always talking about and what’s not to like about him. I have tried to say I’m really not interested but she doesn’t take me seriously and says what’s not to like about him etc! Like I want to say one thing she told me but I don’t want to offend others or disturb others!! I will just have to keep trying to get through but that will be a challenging mission I can tell you that! Last night I asked her to send me a gif of a cartoon character and instead of the character she said “celebrity” coming up I’m like noooo!!!

Wow I’ve really ranted here lol! But I need to get this off my chest but this is the only place to do so.

Thank you for saying about me being caring and I do think my mum is caring but she can’t seem to accept that I don’t like this celebrity she fancies.

  • Sorry I didn't make it clear that the first line was meant for you. It's awful when someone that someone else likes just makes your skin crawl, it's even worse when it's a friend or relatives actual partner though. Have you asked your Mum why she keeps talking to you about this bloke, even though she knows you can't stand him?

What about your right not to be upset? You sound a very caring daughter, always thinking about the feelings of others, but you're both adults now and that caring has to go both ways, from her to you as well from you to her.
