Can Anybody Help Please?

Hi everyone, Matthew here.

I've been curious about something for a long time and now I thought I would ask it. Why do people with Autism phase? By phase I mean how come one day I like The Sims and then I don't play it for months. It doesn't concern me I was just curious. It's just that I am never able to stick to something I always phase out of it, does anyone else phase?

Thanks to everybody who replies.

Kind regards from,

Matthew.

  • Alouisegood,

I used to watch Buffy from morning till evening, my poor mum used to sit in the front room with me, she must have been bored. I no longer watch it though! I guess I phased out of it, though there was a time where I always used to watch it non stop. I now spend all day playing computer games in my room, I doubt that that is very healthy but I enjoy it - until I phase out of it, of course!

What do you do all day Alouisegood?

    Kindest regards,

    Matthew. Smile

  • Thanks for the reply Matthew!

I understand I keep rewriting stories over and over again because they don't seem as impressive as they did years ago. It's a shame you deleted them I like to save mine just in case I regret deleting them.  I have to predict my behaviour because I know I get annoyed with myself if I don't.

I try to make sense of why I phase. I completely understand the phasing with programme series I loved CSI to the point of watching it everyday for hours at time without sleeping. I realise it's unhealthy but it felt like an addiction! Do you feel the same way?

    Sincerely

    Abi

  • Hi Alouisegood,

You did help me, quite a lot actually. I phase very often and like you I must have written over a million books and now they've all been deleted. Undecided

I don't know why I phase, there was a time where I used to literally watch Buffy The Vampire Slayer all day and every day, and now, well I don't even watch it often. Phasing confuses me but I'm sure one day I will stick to something - hopefully!

Thanks for your comment Alouisegood. I am very grateful, thank you.

    Kindest regards,

    Matthew. Smile

  • Hey Matthew!

I phase an extreme amount. For example: I now love writing however throughout the years I've stopped writing and started writing so many times I just feel it's normal. I think we have phases because our mind has taken so much of the topic to a detailed extent that we need a break from this specific topic to start something new and explore a different topic. The only topic I never bore from is psychology so I think it's just a matter of enjoying something you could never be bored of and that doesn't change throughout the years to a large extent.

    Hope I helped.
