Trump on autism

The Guardian is reporting that Trump has just teased that he will be making an important announcement on autism tomorrow (quite how this was relevant in the middle of a eulogy for Charlie Kirk is not clear but that’s the Great Orange Blimp for you). Looks like we can expect mums taking paracetamol during pregnancy to be blamed and folinic acid to be touted as a cure.

  • He's already announced he wants to prevent autism so the money isn't going to be to help us, it'll be to try and stop more of us from existing. Take that as you will.

  • Wheres the fun in not speculating?

Trumps not going to announce money for research or help, it won't benefit any of his elite billionaire friends. Scientists might spend all his money and still tell him he's wrong.

Of course it will be bad it's Trump.

  • Yeahh I lost all faith (I didn’t have much to begin with tbf) in Trump and his administration last term when he posted a picture of him with our most elite task force, thus alerting enemies to their location and potentially even their identities. His team is really lacking in common sense, so I wouldn’t expect much good from whatever they’re announcing.

  • We already know that what Trump said was coming is bad.

  • His exact words:

Tomorrow, we're going to have one of the biggest announcement really medically, I think, in the history of our country. ... I think you're going to find it to be amazing. I think we found an answer to autism. How about that? Autism.

He's also going to talk about, "how to get at least somewhat better when you have it".

Do you really think he's going to announce more money for research or help? He's going to blame it on paracetamol/acetaminophen (and probably the mothers who take it) and then claim that folic acid/folate/vitamin B9 is a partial cure.

Now, this is where I'll start speculating: he'll cut funding for diagnosis and support, so that it will look, on paper, like the "Autism epidemic" is now under control.
