Room 101

What would you put into Room 101?

One pet hate per post.

Post as many pet hates as you want until you experience true catharsis!

If you are not familiar with the Room 101 concept, here is a little bit of background from the relevant article on Wikipedia.

Room 101 is a BBC comedy television series based on the radio series of the same name, in which celebrities are invited to discuss their pet hates and persuade the host to consign those hates to oblivion in Room 101, a location whose name was inspired by the torture room in George Orwell's 1949 novel Nineteen Eighty-Four which reputedly contained "the worst thing in the world". Orwell himself named it after a meeting room in Broadcasting House where he would sit through tedious meetings.

  • Thats me, sorry, Damojo, motorways terrify me, I panic when in the slow lane and have lorries all around me and everyones to fast and agressive in the fast lane. I don't drive on motorways and very rarely ever have, I've always prefered A roads, I'm not that good on busy dual carriageways and al that get in lane stuff and diverging traffic terrifies me, even as a passenger.

  • You are not alone, rarely will I use a motorway. There aren’t many near me but I’m also not one who is very motivated to seek new places out. It’s a sense of unease of the unknown roads and road signs, scared to make a mistake or feel my mind start to gloss over as if I’m shutting down mentally due to the stress it’s all causing. Local roads, those I frequently use are not a problem, the more I do it the more routine they become so I learn not to automatically expect the worst. However driving too far away from home causes a lot of stress no matter how often I attempt it. I’ve done it a few times but it’s not a natural feeling and I don’t see any way around it,

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds driving to new places difficult and scary. I'd have to go almost to England before getting snarled up in multiple dual carriageways and motorways. But narrow single track roads don't really bother me at all, the only things that bother me about them is how poorly maintained they are, clots of cyclists suddenly appearing out of nowhere and surrounding me and the tourist idiots who don't where reverse gear is. They drive a car length past a passing place and then expect me to reverse or just disappear.
