Im so happy and proud!

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to tell someone how happy i am with my sons first day at college, havnt slept right in weeks worrying about it and it was fab!

We went early and met with learning support (again lol!) who were great they had assigned someone to be with him all day and scribe for him. His lectures all had the right info on michael and gave a quick introduction to the class about michael, he was instantly accepted in the class, must admit there was a lot of mature students in his class so i dont know if this would have worked with other 16 year olds.

I stayed in the canteen so he knew where i was if needed. It was one of thoese situations where if he knew i was there i wouldnt be needed but if i had gone home his stress levels would have gone into meltdown. I saw him at breaks but didnt sit with him, he was with his classmates. Yes by the end of the day he was stresssed and confused and we had a lot of things to explain to him last night. But he made it through the day, didnt need me and WAS HAPPY and is looking forward to this afternoon at college. He is only in for 2 and a half days a week. He is going by taxi today and im staying home! the taxi doesnt worry him as he was taxied to school so fingers crossed for another good day.

Sorry for going on but my family and friends just dont get how big a thing this is, they think its just a kid going to college thousands do it everyday. Its a huge step for him and im so proud that both the college and he handled it so well.

  • Hi Sam

I am so pleased that your son has had such a great time at college.  Everything you posted I can relate to.  It is such a worrying time.  My son is off to university in September and I am worried sick about the whole thing.  I never thought he would do it but it is now a reality and as much as I want him to go out there and have fun, I am so worried about the problems and situations that he is going to find himself in.

I don't want to be an over protective mother and I really want him to go to university but it is so scary
