Celebrity’s do you get the hype?

Yep haha where as my circus one devolved over the corse of one 1 and a half hour show and stayed wirh me this past year so far 

This interest has been slow cooked and is now ready to devour. 

If say a speical interest I callas hyoerfication as short lived this has been in the making for 2 years so far haha 

Why do people like Taylor Swift have to do all thier performances in spangly swimming cossies? Everytime I see a pop star they all seem to be wearing them?

Potentially a hyperfixation would you say? Nothing wrong with that if it’s making you enjoy life more. 

I like Strictly because I can't dance myself and like to kid myself that I know all about it, lol.

I get that. I'm not often one to like the thing that everyone likes. But it was still very early in it's popularity when I started liking it so it wasn't such a fad and once I was hooked there was no turning back.

I'm not interested in their personal lives such as who is dating who and all that kind of thing. But I do take an interest occasionally in their journey to get to where they are and also things they get involved with such as charities. For example, Lucy Bronze has donated £10,000 to the GB deaf football team for the deaflympics so they can have the kits, nutrition etc that she was fortunate to have when she played in the Olympics. I like to hear stories like that.

Harry Potter came a bit later in life for me, so I probably wasn't his target demographic. With all the marketing fuss, my brain saw him as just another type of "celebrity" and almost instinctively averted its attention (ADHD helped). I can't be told to like something. Telling me will just make me not like it on principle!

When it comes to sports stars or actors, etc., I do admire their achievements, but I don't pay much attention to what they do off the pitch or stage/screen.

I feel like the odd one out here with my huge swiftie thing to the level it is 

Generally speaking, no I don't get the hype. I find it a bit odd that people get so obsessed with someone's (who they've never met) life. 

But there are exceptions. Harry Potter has been an almost life long interest of mine. I'm not interested much in the lives of the actors but I very much enjoy hearing them speak in interviews about their roles in Harry Potter.

Also I really love the lionesses because they represent women in sport which is important to me. At the moment I particularly like Lucy Bronze and enjoy watching interviews she has done. Part of this is because she's got autism and ADHD too.

This is so true. I’ve just read a journalist’s interview with Lulu. She repeatedly referred to “Lulu” as being a separate and very different version of herself. She explained how “Lulu is a character I play, a part”.

I should add, for the avoidance of doubt, that I’m not suggesting she’s not very nice! 

If Tay Tay was on it is watch it haha I dunno dancing shows Dont interest me but with the right presenters I can bare them

Ii disagree, I still like watching it and it was one of the first prime time tv programes to have two female presenters, I like watching eople doing something real that many have never done before.

This is it if I do like a celebrity beyond their art it’s mostly becuase I resonate with their personality or at least what we see of it in public

This is similar to the halo effect, one positively perceived attribute about another person creates an illusion that the individual is equally as positive in other or all other aspects of their lives. It’s a bit like seeing an attractive person in the street, I know from my perspective I don’t question if they are morally righteous or charitable, I only see an attractive face leading to a lack of awareness as to whether they would be compatible relationship wise or not. 

I don't follow any celebrity stuff, I watch something like Strictly and don't know who most of the "stars" are, but I still enjoy the program because I just see them as people rather than the fictional characters they play, the sport they did, or what platform they use.

I don't read celebrity magazines or bits in newspapers and I don't follow them on any social media, I'm just not that interested

Do I get the hype? No. Never have.

It's probably that autistic trait around not recognising social hierarchies or authority. I feel no more interested in what some celebrity had for breakfast than I do about any random stranger on the street.

I often have a tendency to pick up on fakery it’s how I knew of how my old bosses were being nice or fake

also sometimes you see candid videos where they seen even nicer ok this is mainly for pop stars like Taylor or wrestlers like John cena but still

I find you can gauge their genuineness as well as you can your friends snd by this I mean how can we even as autistic people 100 percent be sure our friends are as nice as they seem 

my ex team leader makes me hallt every time she messsages me or I see her but how can I truly know she’s like this when I’m nkt there if you get me 

It's hard to know if you would really want to be friends with them in real life.

You only see their public persona. For some this is carefully curated. You don't see the bad bits. This is how some end up being revealed as not being very nice years later.
