Loads of berries this year

I've had loads of raspberries in the garden with more on the way, and blackberries, the hedgerows are laden with fruit and I've never seen so many sloes before. I've just started the blackberry and apple jam off.

Isn't a good berry autumn supposed to mean a harsh winter? Maybe i'll get my wish fulfilled for snow?

  • Freshly picked berries are delicious. I used to go out and pick berries with my gran, she knew which ones were safe and used to tell me facts about wild plants and berries. I want to grow berries in my garden but I'm useless at gardening. Everything I try to grow ends up dead.

  • This is so true!!

In the area where I run and walk there are lots of blackberries

I ate quite a few yesterday, they are small but so sweet. I'm going back today with a bag to collect some.

I did eat something from a bush, a few weeks ago, that looked like a small plum. It did have a stone in it and that also was sweet. I wasn't sure what is was at the time, so I only ate one. But after a quick Google, I think it may have been a sloe. So thank you. I can now identify a sloe.

I love snow too. I love the stillness.

Theres a line I've got in my head that I've read somewhere, something like

When it snows the world gets quiet.

I love to be the first one to walk/run through untouched snow.

  • There’s something very satisfying about picking and eating blackberries, I think it’s the ability to find food out and about in the wild or at local parks for free

  • Love home-made jam. Blackberry and apple, yum.

We have loads of apples and pears on the trees in the garden. It is amazing. One year I will actually go and make something with them! Blush

I hope you get the snow you are hoping for.

  • I've got strawberry jam (shop bought) and some new raspberry coloured towels, that's as close as I get to berries, living in a flat - ha ha!
