Work flagged as plagiarised AI content when using speech to text app

I'm not an expert on the brainly app but I can think of two reasons that this could be an issue:

1. It actually uses AI software in order to do speech to text (many people assume AI is new because of sites like Chat GPT popping up but it has actually been used for a long time within other features)

2. They cannot decisively tell that it is a speech to text feature and not AI and therefore cannot accept it.

Unfortunately, unless it was previously agreed that you could use a speech to text app then I don't think you'll have much choice but to redo the coursework. I know that's incredibly frustrating.

I would imagine the reasons for allowing the MS word speech to text is that they have a better way of monitoring that particular feature.

They may be asking to meet with you to try and support you so try not to worry that you'll be thrown off the course. Use it as an opportunity to ask your questions so you can understand the issue. You haven't intentionally cheated or taken someone else's work so it should be fine. They've already said you can redo the coursework so I see no reason they'd go back in that.

I do find it strange that they've waited until you had submitted all the units rather than flagging it after the first one.

They didn’t say anything like that, they just said ‘because of how it is written it cannot be accepted,’ so I appreciate you taking the time to answer me and in a way I understand!

There are certain features that AI often uses, it can be as simple as dashes in the writing. It may be that although it is your words, the style the app has used to put it into writing flags it as AI.

Perhaps you are… thinking about it from my point of view (strange saying) I have never met you. Only interacted with you via an online forum. We could all be AI in each others reality. Cool.

I don’t think I’m interesting enough to be hacked - I’m just an abnormal spaniels sidekick. ‍️

 Honestly I've often thought my brain doesn't work dissimilarly to AI sometimes (just with a lot less access to knowledge).

This can be an issue for definite. It is worth like the others have suggested questioning what their proof is that you used AI.

The difficulty with this particular issue is that it wasn't previously agreed that you could use the software. In a school any adjustments for coursework/exams have to be previously agreed. I do not know if this changes in college etc. However, if it isn't stated that you cannot use it in policy, this may be a loophole. It gets a bit complicated because it likely does use AI but as the AI isn't used for the content then you may have a case.

This! Ok so I just looked into the AI checkers and they aren’t foolproof. If you use the same pattern in writing over the answers it flags it, or if you have common words AI like to use. I tested a random email I wrote and 3/4 checkers flagged as 70% or more AI generated content!
