What are your special interests?

I really love learning about other peoples hyperfixations/special interests and - although I struggle to show it - get so happy and excited when someone shares theirs with me. It's probably one of the only things I like more than my own special interest tbh... I love it even more when someone feels comfortable enough to not only tell me what theirs is, but also tell me every detail about it. Even if I have no idea what any of it means, I still love listening.

I'm rambling so I'll just get to the point; I'm curious about everyone here. I had a *** night and this is the first thing that came to mind to make me feel better so I'd love it if someone would be willing to indulge...

Parents
  • Music (The Beatles, Nick Cave, Radiohead, King Gizzard, The Fall, Dylan, Neil Young) Comedy (Partridge, League of Gentlemen (+inside no. 9), standup (James Acaster, Tim Key, David O'Doherty, Paul Foot, Stewart Lee) Books (Sherlock Holmes, Jeeves and Wooster, William Boyd, Tolkien), Football.

That sounds like a lot of "special" interests but I tend to become obsessed with a thing for a while and then move on to something else while still retaining a general interest in the original thing and coming back to it with a renewed obsession later on.

I have always resisted the urge to start collating information on things that interest me in any other way than mentally but I am starting to give in and make spreadsheets of stuff on different topics, in the interests of completeness i.e listening to all of a band albums, making sure I have seen all episodes of something etc. It always seemed a bit of an autistic cliche but *** it, it gives me joy to do it so I will do it!
