What are your special interests?

I really love learning about other peoples hyperfixations/special interests and - although I struggle to show it - get so happy and excited when someone shares theirs with me. It's probably one of the only things I like more than my own special interest tbh... I love it even more when someone feels comfortable enough to not only tell me what theirs is, but also tell me every detail about it. Even if I have no idea what any of it means, I still love listening.

I'm rambling so I'll just get to the point; I'm curious about everyone here. I had a *** night and this is the first thing that came to mind to make me feel better so I'd love it if someone would be willing to indulge...

I veer - might do something for months or years then leave it and try something new.

sailing ship terminology e.g. 'splice the mainbrace ' and names of parts of ships - absolutely no practical use as I don't sail and never intend to!

eighteenth century social life and aeronautics

writing - written journals since age 10. Published age 45 - useless at marketing but enjoy the process and learning to write in new genres

baking - my day to day cooking is not so good but I've just mastered the whisked sponge. Practical - at least you can eat the results

archaeology - too old and bad knees so no longer a volunteer but watch TV docus and read

cleaning - daily chores, of which I set limits every day - about 3 items. Enjoy sitting with a glass of wine or cup of tea and admiring something I've just cleaned. Get huge satisfaction from this.
