What are your special interests?

I really love learning about other peoples hyperfixations/special interests and - although I struggle to show it - get so happy and excited when someone shares theirs with me. It's probably one of the only things I like more than my own special interest tbh... I love it even more when someone feels comfortable enough to not only tell me what theirs is, but also tell me every detail about it. Even if I have no idea what any of it means, I still love listening.

I'm rambling so I'll just get to the point; I'm curious about everyone here. I had a *** night and this is the first thing that came to mind to make me feel better so I'd love it if someone would be willing to indulge...

  • My special interests are:

    1. The strongest one I have had in a long time is autism. I spend hours looking at information, reading threads in here and reading books about being autistic. I feel alive when I’m reading stuff about it. It’s definitely my hyper focus and I don’t go to sleep on time because I spend hours reading about being autistic. It actually makes me feel a kind of euphoria. I don’t know whether that’s an autistic thing?

    2. Animals, specific animals but I feel a bit worried about my identity being revealed if I say which ones. But I can watch videos of them and have great knowledge of them.

    3. I make blankets for a baby charity. I love making them, creating new designs and patterns. When I have made a few I take them to the charity, it’s a local one and they pack them with other baby things for new mums who are in need of support.

    4. Iceland (the country, not the shop). I love looking at photographs of the landscape there and have attempted to learn the language but it’s a difficult one.

  • Those are so cool! I also love learning about autism and animals as well as a country (The Netherlands) and have learned a bit of Dutch from it. My favourite animal is the White Bengal Tiger... I love Tigers in general but that specific Sub-Species is my fav.

I think it's really cool that you make blankets for baby charity... I'd love to learn but I still have, like, 20 other activities that are on my 'to learn' list even though I'm currently doing 20 other things at once smiling face with tear
