UK meteorological autumn - places to visit?

During UK meteorological autumn - do you have favourite ideas of places to visit?

In the UK, Meteorological Autumn;

begins on: 1 September, and

ends on: 30 November.

Sometimes, as autumn arrives; I can find myself needing a bit of an excuse - to prompt me into venturing outdoors to visit somewhere interesting (while the weather holds reasonably fair).

As draft plans begin to formulate, I look out for some potential prompts - to visit somewhere beyond my local neighbourhood:

- National Trust (England) "Heritage Open Days" (2025) take place:

between Friday 12 and Sunday 21 September.

"Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture offering free access to heritage events and activities across England.

There are thousands of free in-person events running across the country with a wealth of hidden places and stories to discover."
