Pre-crime detection is now a reality

Courtest of the US company Flock.

https://www.stopflock.com/

Not quite as specific as used in Minority Report, but the surveilance company Flock in the USA has started supplying Police with analysis of the movement of cars using number place recognition and is flagging up activity it considers suspicious.

A group of cars that seem to appear together a lot? Possible protester convoy or gang movements?

A car circling a bank location multiple times? Trying to park or casing it for a robbery?

No need for warrants as it can be considered "reasonable suspicion" to justify a stop and search event.

Once this sort of system starts tying in with mobile phone tracking then we will literally be under constant surveillance 24/7 and anything that looks suspicious will be flagged up by AI.

I realise this is a US based system at present but you can be sure it will be of interest to our government who are constantly monitoring our social media for undesirable comments and are quite happy to send the police round if you voice any support of, say, a genocide going on somewhere in the Middle East.

I'm not a believer in the "if you are doing nothing wrong you have nothing to hide" approach - we should have a right to live our lives out of the constant glare of Big Brother.

  • This is an interesting video by the BBC

It’s a scenario set in the future where AI takes over the job roles of most people and even creates better or alternative versions of itself. It even engages with other countries AI in war and diplomacy. This just came up on my feed so thought I’d share it.

    PS The ending isn’t great….

  • But you're enjoying it anyway aren't you?

Which "creator" are you talking about, there seem to be so many, all convinced that they're the ones with the TRUTH, who will be saved, there are going to be some very disapointed people around, but then if your idea of justice is indulgence for yourself and punishment for everyone else, then you're mearly getting what you prayed for.

  • I think that the worst thing in all this would be some absolutely innocent people being abused by this system.

They are probably the people that police just think are a crime waiting to happen so they are helping us dodge a bullet.

It is too useful for them to give up without a fight though.

  • I think that the worst thing in all this would be some absolutely innocent people being abused by this system.

  • The police may finally decide this was not a criminal activity, but they may find something else illegal there.

For the police it is a great way to fish for other illegal activities that would otherwise have eluded them so there is an arguement that it is a good thing.

My problem is that from experience, the government and law enforcement systems are not trustworthy. It is very clear with the way the police are used to arrest peaceful protestors because some element in power has deemed the protests unacceptable to public morality.

Anyone with a knowledge of the 1930s history can see clear patterns of behaviour being established in the UK and USA which should send chills down their spine.

  • So now it's enough if a group of friends meets regularly and go somewhere with their cars. It's already enough to suspect that they are doing some criminal activity and send the police. The police may finally decide this was not a criminal activity, but they may find something else illegal there. Any reason to send the cops might be good. With the mobile phones and social media I think it's already in place, but maybe not so openly. I honestly barely use social media and there are many platforms where I don't exist at all. For example Facebook, or tiktok.

  • I believe god may be a physocal being in heaven but in the mortal realm he only hear prayiers snd helps us find our way he doesn’t how ever grant wishes he guides those who seek it

  • It's about getting right with our creator

You mean the deity who is always watching us? Omnipotent and omnipresent?

Thats worse than the police state as there is never any time to yourself and even your thoughts are monitored LOL.

  • Hate to say, "I told you, so!" but I did say, before last year's General Election, that a Labour Victory would deliver Full-Scale Big Brother. However, so many in Blighty let Boris in their head; Rent-Free.

The Shift is towards Reform. However, this is so embedded that any change of Party in power is too little too late.

While there's a growing consensus that the system's designed to aid those at the, extreme, top, people are mislead into believing that Jeremy Corbyn has the answer. But, as I said, the framework is laid out. It's about getting right with our creator, while we still have the chance.

  • Perhaps Robocop next? I can’t see that being too far out. Science fiction movies seem to be foretellers quite often. Total Recall and Johnny cab, now we have Tesla and self driving cars as one example. Jumping light years ahead with this one but maybe even Star Wars is future science fiction, a political landscape of not just counties but planets too.

  • This could be used wrll but I mean conveys of cars do exist for no bad reasons

i agreee we should be able to stay out of consent supervision i like privacy and I feel I should if approached to get a record contract it should be assumed I may not want the publicity and theft or lack of privacy it shouldn’t be assumed I do

internet tracking already exists if you type keywords it has to be run under ai(as I ai isnt new) to look at context if it’s nothing bad it’s Deleted

biometrics work similar it’s nkt loookfong at a face but days and records are nkt kept

there’s a lot of Mia information about snd fake news do your research wirh clear terms and you’ll find thr real truth

5g isnt cancerous it’s not a high enough wattage or close enough to you even an rf burn from the transmitter doesn’t cause cancer

so my point is be careful what you believe

  • I agree Iain, society is getting more cohersive and we are ever more survieled. I wonder how long it will be before someone with no smart phone and minimal internet pressense and no social media will be suspected of terrorsim or somehting? I mean I must have so much to hide, it couldn't possibly be because I don't know how to use it and if I did can't see the attraction of most of it. I get treated like I'm odd and maybe here illegally because I don't have two forms of photo ID, I have no passport, I have no need for one as I don't go anywhere and yet to open a new bank account or something I'm told I do. My 91 year old Mum can't open a new bank account because she has no passport or driving license, she's never driven and she's unlikely to start now. It's like fear of others has made us others in the eyes of officialdom. Does it not occur to them that if we were criminals we'd have all the right documentation because we'd have tame forgers to provide it?  We've done nothing wrong, and have noting to hide, but we're still treated with suspicion.

I think a lot of people are fighting back, especially about genocide in Gaza, its older people with no careers to worry about who are holding placards and being arrested under anti terrorism laws, they're doing it for the cause and to protect younger people from having a terrorism charge following them around all thier lives.

We all have something we value, even if we have nothing to hide, Big Brother is adept at using those things or people we value to bring us into line.
