Angels

Does anyone believe in angels?

What do you believe them to be?

What about nefilim, the half human half angel hybrids that the Great Flood from the bible was supposed to have wiped out?

I find the whole subject fascinating, quite a few cultures have angels in thier religious beliefs, some of them not from an Abrahamic tradition.

As someone said on another thread, do angels have the equipment to procreate?

Lucifer who was said to have been cast out of heaven by god along with his followers and went to hell and became the devil and demons etc, did hell already exist? Was it vacant when Lucifer took up residence there? A Lucifer figure appears in many religions and myths to, whats-his-face being punnished for giving humans fire and the other one who pushes a rock up a hill everyday only for it to roll back down every night and the one who has his liver pecked out by and eagle on a daily basis, why do we need these transgressive figures who appear to want to aid human development only to be punished by god who seemingly dosen't want us to develope?

There are also lots of myths about Watchers, Grigori and others who are the decendents of the Nephilim and keep watch ove rthe earth and certain individials and maybe bloodlines?

  • It’s encouraging to see so many who believe in a higher power whatever that may be. I keep my options open, never say never

  • "Encouraging" in what way? I'm going to play my Autistic card here and state (truthfully) that I don't understand what you mean. Or, rather, I can think of about five things you might mean, but they're all quite different, so, lacking further context, I have no idea which one to pick.

No need to answer. I'm OK with uncertainty.

  • I’d like to answer though so it’s not an issue at all, it’s encouraging to see that people are willing to believe in something not proved by science. Also I find people’s faith intriguing because I don’t have any firm belief myself but I would like to.

  • No, not offended at all, you obviously have strong faith so your ideas are not wrong. I found what you wrote about the spirits very interesting and do hold a superstition in my view of not playing with things I do not understand. However we do as human beings tend to be drawn to things that frighten us possibly due to lack of understanding and a sense of mystery to it. I cannot say I hold a firm belief in the actual existence of spirits personally but I also cannot say with certainty they don’t exist. Seeing is believing in my case, I’ve been to many spiritualists churches who at times have said things they could not possibly have known. Sometimes they will describe a member of the family that has passed away and given a description of their personality and physical features and pass on a message from them. It can also be a message from the mediums own spirit guide being passed onto you, this is usually advice and guidance over a current or future issue. As I wrote this a message from my sister appeared asking if I wished to hear her most recent reading, weird!

  • It isn't an either or situation - science is invented by God. Mathematics too. Look at the Fibonace sequence - all of nature is made according to it. If you look at your cells under a microscope - one little thing (sorry im bad at remembering names) that's job is clean up or dying cells and broken or defective ones - well it looks exactly like a machine - so God created us in that detail and taught us how to make machines (of course at the time we made machines there was yet no technology to see these little cell cleaners)

All thos ehorrible things are allowed by Him, because greater good can come out of them, than if they were not to exist in the first place. We have free choice to create evil, but we also have free choice to choose good. Those who choose good in this sort of climate - will live in glory for ever.
