For your (hoped for comfort) = don't "sweat the small stuff!"
In the old days......if I saw that a thread was starting to "go sideways"......I would ALWAYS report myself! ...... because I didn't want to "throw shade" in someone else's direction......but wanted to alert the MODS to something that I thought merited their "attention" to decide.....however they saw fit!
If reporting these days results in an automatic "moderation sin-bin" moment......then I'm sure they will be "released" at about 9am tomorrow morning.
Don't worry - I think this matter would only have a meaningful impact on the person that you occidentally reported, if it was the start of a Bank Holiday weekend - or similar "break" for our MODS. In your instance, I'm sure it will be absolutely fine.
