Hi everyone,
It's not really a truly intense "special interest," but I have always been fascinated in names, particularly baby girls' names. It's partly because I love writing and making up characters and plots in my head, and I think it's also because I've got two little sisters and was involved in naming them both (particularly my 13-year-old sister as I was four when she was born, so I was able to be a bit more involved than I was with my 15-year-old sister).
I'm currently in the process of creating a plot which involves identical twin sisters in their mid-forties. Their last name is Burton, and one of them is definitely called Felicity. I can't decide whether to call her sister Juliet or Clementine! I wondered which one you all preferred? Plus, if any of you know of any particularly beautiful or unusual girls' names, I'd be really grateful.
Thank you!

Thanks so much for your reply. I think I will go for Juliet, just because Clementine is a tiny bit too unusual for this context; I still think it's a beautiful name, though! I myself don't write fantasy - I'm more of a domestic fiction type. I really focus on the relationships between people, especially women (which is interesting, considering my Aspieness; I think I see it as a safe and undaunting way to explore relationships). I was really inspired by Alice Walker's amazing book "The Color Purple" - it was my AS level set text and I just fell in love with it, especially the relationship between Celie and Shug and the character of Sofia. My latest scenario - which I'm hoping to turn into a book called "The Mood Diary" is about a mother (Hazel) and her daughter (Imogen) and Hazel's partner (Felicity, who everyone calls Flick). Flick is this amazingly vibrant, intelligent and wonderfully creative woman with a wicked sense of humour and a true heart of gold, but she has a lot of struggles due to her manic and depressive episodes. Hazel is a child psychiatrist and is finding it difficult to balance supporting her patients and her teenage daughter as well as her partner, but she is so in love with Flick, and Flic and Imogen are best friends, so she wouldn't change her situation for the world. Imogen is startlingly similar to her mother, and very loyal to Flick, who she adores. They truly are a family, together through thick and thin. Juliet is Flick's yummy-mummy identical twin sister, who has an equally wicked tongue, and has had her own mental health struggles in her life but has not suffered in the same way that Flick has. There are, of course, other characters, such as Flick and Juliet's plummily posh parents and Flick's psychiatrist who Juliet develops a bit of a crush on when supporting Flick in hospital. This brings about the most classic Flick quote: "***** **** Juliet, you are so obvious!"
Well, it's more the timing of it; you've sort of got to be in my brain!
