getting transport.

my partner has epilepsy and cant get out much, as on strong tablets. i am autistic and i dont like being round people on busses and in town. i am on low rate mobility. i need to know if there is any other way apart from the mobility scheme to get a car. as i would like to take the kids out and do things with them. i want to be able to go to a meeting on my own, rather then having to drag my partner and kids everywhere as i am not comfortable getting busses on my own. my partner cant go to the park much on her own as she has blackouts and there are loads of roads. i dont like going to the park as there are two many people. if i had a car i could drop her off. and pick her up. if my partner is ill. it is hard to pick the kids up as i get so confused and panicky going to the school as i have to walk through loads of kids and parents it is torture. it is not fair on my partner. if i had a car i could wait in the car in the teachers carpark and the kids would be allowed to come round to that entrance. i know some people might think its selfish that i am asking if any one knows anywhere which might be able to help.  but it would make everybody in my house holds life easier.

if anyone has any constructive advice then thank you.

thank you kindly

  • I can understand  where your coming from esra.

Even though I don't drive yet.

You could look into DLA being reassessed but think carefully as the current Gov is making major cuts so unless you think you have a strong case.

You may also want to speak to Citizen's Adivce - on the phone prehaps (if they do this in your local area) or call and ask when they are less busy.

If you feel up to it you may want to consider in the worse caser senario to ask your council for disabeled pass to use on trians, buses or special buses for people who find it difficult to use public transport. You could get a friend to call your local council on your behalf if all else doesn't work out as planned.

Take care and hope your partner gets better.
