UK Sunday 7 September 3 pm Mobile Emergency Alert Test

Might be worth adding a reminder to your calendar (to reduce being startled):

"The national system for sending emergency alerts to mobile phones in the UK will be tested again this September, the government has said.

It will see compatible phones vibrate and make a siren sound for 10 seconds while displaying a message at 15:00 BST on 7 September, even if they are set to silent."

  • You can set your phone not to go off - but beware your service provided may change it back to receiving this text. O2 did this to me when Virgin transferred me to O2.

My phone is permanently on silent and do not disturb - I think this should cure the problem. A siren would be bad. I think I'll be sure not to go out then so I don't hear others sirens going off.

Thanks for the reminder at least if I hear others go off, it'll just be the horrid noise and not also the panic as to what it is. I did not know this.
