Wildlife

I can't find the old chats so I am starting a new one. I would love to hear your stories too.

I kept finding my recently planted flower bed getting dug up, so I protected my remaining plants and we set up a wildlife camera which filmed two different foxes. After that we occasionally saw them in the day and I have made sure there is water available on the ground. One even left their dinner behind half buried, but fortunately returned for it the next night.

This morning my son sent a video he filmed earlier of 3 foxes including at least one cub.

  • There are woods behind my house, and we see all kinds of lovely animals. There are owls, hawks, deer, foxes, lots of squirrels, wood pigeons, woodpeckers, jays, and many small birds.

Once, there was a squirrel on the back garden fence with a slice of bread. It accidentally dropped the bread, and a few moments later, a fox came up the hill behind the house and picked the bread up in its mouth. It stood there for a bit then dropped the bread in seeming disgust (like, 'blegh') and trotted off! Joy

I'd like to see a badger some day, but I don't know if any live there.
