How do you water? (and other basic life skills)

Hiya folks,

Who else here stinks at hydrating properly?

Problem 1: I've always hated the consistency of water, no matter how thirsty I am. Something about the texture and hint of chemical flavor makes me gag like the worst rotten egg in the world. Worst of all, I'm a long distance runner, and I know it's truly a miracle I've survived this long, but I can't keep on like this.

Problem 1: I've always struggled with water bottles—I'm uncoordinated, and I dislike having to aim a hard metal lid at not-my-teeth and not-my-upper-lip but into-my-mouth-why-am-I-playing-corn-hole-with-this-stuff—and the wide lipped kind are, in my humble opinion, one of most inconvenient means of drinking water I've ever encountered in my life. Why can I not just imbibe all of the liquid i need for the day in one sitting and then be DONE?

I've tried everything to make it easier: got an accessible water bottle with a button-release cap, a straw, and two comfy handles and some fun little stickers, bought hydration mix packs to make the water taste like not-water (lemonade, grape juice, sweet tea), but I can't get over the whole watery-ness of the water.

Still, it's so haaaaarrrd.

The ultimate question: how do you water?

Love,

Max

  • I'm intrigued as to where you are from. Only on the basis of your hydration mix solution. I don't like the taste of water either and struggled from an early age. My solution came in the form of Robinson's squash/cordial and I've lived off the stuff for most of my life. It hides the taste of water enough for me. I don't have issue with the texture though, just the taste. You not mentioning squash made me wonder if you're not from UK.

I agree about not being a big fan of many water bottles especially the metal open topped ones but I have found ones I'm comfortable with which means I can happily sip throughout the day.

I hope you find your solution.
