Dubai chocolate: What is so special about it?

Hi again, all. Grinning

Foods made with pistachio, particularly chocolate, has been quite trendy over the last year or so. But what exactly is so great about it? Pretty much every supermarket now and chocolate manufacturers have joined in on the bandwagon. It's everywhere.

A chocoalte bar containing pistachio cream, sesame paste and kataifi (shredded pastry) doesn't sound all that appetising to me and looks like mold. Though the pistachio cream on its own probably wouldn't be too bad.

Have you tried Dubai chocolate? If so, what did you think of it?

  • I have yet to try Dubai Chocolate ("Dubai chocolate" refers to a popular type of chocolate bar that features a milk chocolate shell filled with pistachio cream and shredded filo pastry, inspired by the Middle Eastern dessert knafeh).

However, I like each of chocolate, pistachio and knafeh - so perhaps I should try a few brands - merely for market research purposes you understand!

Major supermarkets and some chocolate brands started stocking Dubai-style chocolate bars.  So, even if the original manufacturer's brand were to be out of reach - it sounds like some more accessible fun might be had.

(Just worth being aware that; people allergic to tree nuts (e.g. almonds and walnuts etc.) are also known to experience pistachio as a common allergen too).

...I think some Dubai-style chocolate might get a mention in the "letter to Father Christmas" this year in my household.
