The League of Gentlemen/Psychoville/Inside No.9

Hello everyone, I really haven't been online in a while but I've had exams and I've had to revise a lot. Anyway I have obsessive phases which occur every few months, and they normally revolve around television shows or celebrities (For example, Sherlock/Benedict Cumberbatch was the latest obssession) But now it's 'The League of Gentlemen', 'Psychoville' and 'Inside No.9' (a common factor of all the shows is Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton, although Mark Gatiss and Jeremy Dyson were involved largely in 'The League of Gentlemen') :)
I was wondering if anyone liked any of these shows! The genre is 'Dark Comedy' and all shows have bizarre characters but they do surprisingly make me laugh, and it would be great to talk about them with other people, because I'm 17 and none of my friends have even heard of the shows! I'd love a reply :)

  • ive been online and registered and ive never had a letter or a visit i must be lucky at the end of the day the licence act isn't law its an act the bbc is a private company that has no rights to invade your privacy or home they do not have detectors either hand held or mobile thats just a lie to scare people its a rip off and im certainly not funding fat salaries of the like of graham norton et al nor fat cat wages of its employees

  • You're lucky.  Got rid of the TV in 2003.  Since then, I've lived at 3 addresses, and at each of them have received numerous letters - probably an average of 8 per year.  Even after I've gone online and completed a 'No TV' confirmation - and received a confirmation email - I've shortly afterwards received another letter.  I've complained several times about a waste of fee-payers money.  But still the letters come.  I think they just cannot believe that someone in this day and age chooses not to have a box.

  • I don't have a licence and haven't for some 12yrs never been hassled by them but i would just ignore them if they did turn up the fee is a rip off in my opinion .... milligan was a genius used to love the Q series i once had every single episode of the goon show on my pc 70hrs but lost them when pc crashed was absolutely gutted bbcand ch4 used to have some brilliant comedy but its all crap now

  • Yep.  I haven't had a TV for 15 years now and don't miss it.  I don't mind paying a licence fee if there's decent stuff on, but I'm happier just catching up with boxed sets and using online resources.

And every so many weeks, in spite of my countless replies and confirmations, I still get letters from TV Licencing reminding me that I need a licence if I now have a TV, and that inspectors will be calling to confirm.  Suspicion of guilty until proven innocent, in other words.

Monty Python was great.  I was too young for The Goons, but I caught up later with recordings.  Loved it.  Spike Milligan and Peter Sellers were great heroes.  The Pythons, League of Gentlemen, etc... they all owe a huge debt to Milligan.

  • pauline yeah lol chinnery with the tortoise and compressed air wish we had comedy like this on tv instead of all this reality c r a p and dancing rubbish i remember monty python show on bbc2 back in the 70's
