How do you dress?

I've often made a few questionable choices with my clothes through the years and have often got it wrong. In the last year or so I've decided to go for comfort over conformity, and I've always been more attracted to bright colours rather than black, grey or beige and the muted tones that seem to be popular these days. I don't want to look like everyone else anymore.

My partner and I recently discovered a shop in Matlock Bath, Derbyshire, and they sell all sorts of cool clothes. It's hippie style so there are patchwork trousers, harem pants, and loose shirts and t-shirts, printed designs etc. I absolutely love it and it's what I wear now. I'm happy to be the weird guy wearing the hat, assorted coloured clothes and sandals or barefoot shoes.

What's your style and what do you like wearing?

  • I usually wear a shirt, tie and tank top and smart trousers, I will occasionally wear jeans and a jumper.  But Most of the time, it's a shirt and tie. I always feel more comfortable wearing long sleeves,

    Where do people buy clothes from? I'm almost at my wits end trying to find something that fits. Whats with the eye popping patterns that seem to be everywhere, people must be able to be seen from space!

    I can’t find anything that fits me properly either. M&S years ago used to sell quality clothes that fitted me. Their T-shirts were made from thicker cotton and they used to last years. Have you seen their T-Shirts this year? You could spit through them! Most of their clothes are poorly cut, badly sewn and made from cheap, thin fabrics.

    Recently, I have been buying clothing from small independent shops, going for neutral, classic items that should last for years, but the items are exorbitantly expensive.

    There was an article on ‘Which’ Magazine’s website recently that backs up the claim that the quality of clothes from shops like M&S has deteriorated. I am in despair over my wardrobe at the moment too.

    We only have a tiny M&S that's really a food stoe that sells a few clothes, I don't wear t-shirts, I'm not even sure if ours have any. We have one independent clothes shop left in Bangor and I don't know how long they will remain open for, the owners jacked the rent up and everybody moved out and most have either disapeared altogether or have moved online. We've got a Pringles, that sells expensive clothes for very small and elderly people, a New Look which sells rubbish and supermarkets. Oh, and we have a Next that sells very little and is used as a showcase for online orders and a TKMAXX that rarely has anything in my my size.

    I used to get a lot of clothes from Lagan Look, but they've got expensive and the quality is now poor, Lotus in the Moonlight no longer sells to the UK as postage is so expensive, Kit and Kaboodle rarely have anything in my length. I think I may end up cutting a hole in the middle of a sheet and a blanket just so as I have something to cover my nakedness when going out soon.

    I have in the past bought a t-shirt from M&S, really liked it, and gone back and bought another one that was identical in the same size. And it fitted totally differently! It was nothing like the size or shape of the first one I bought just a few weeks earlier.

    M&S is basically random now for sizing. They get their stuff made really cheap in the far east and it's a total lottery as to whether your usual size will fit.
