What a week!

My eyes have been crazy sore this week and the vision blurry so I have to go back to the eye hospital again on Tuesday. More torture coming I fear.

The water company switched the water off for hours which resulted in a meltdown.

And to top it all I got a fine through the post because I drove in the bus lane and this rotten camera photographed me doing it. HOWEVER I had a good reason. An ambulance with blue flashing lights I hasten to add was speeding up the road so I thought I best give way, to help them save a life.

I appealed it and had the rudest response ever in which Kim replied

We acknowledge your reasons for entering the bus lane how ever you still did it there four the penalty still stands

Her manner in the email was appalling as was her spelling, not just in that one line. I will be taking this further, no longer bothered about paying the fine but for her attitude.

I'm tired. Ugh what a week.

  • I hate driving these days it just gets worse and worse. I try and follow the rules whereas quite a number of drivers don’t.

    Me too.

I'm having to drive most days at the moment and I live in a congested area.

If I drive for pleasure there is one A road I travel that has much less traffic and is through the countryside.

  • All the best for your eyes and the week ahead B Rabbit2

  • Crazy but that seems to be the way of things at least to me. I’ve read Bunny’s message above and  seems to me like a rule that makes little sense. There should be allowances for certain situations  I would have done exactly same as you and wouldn’t have considered the rules around bus lanes.
I hate driving these days it just gets worse and worse. I try and follow the rules whereas quite a number of drivers don’t. I almost got taken out a traffic lights the other day when I a car flew through a red light. If I hadn’t  looked before setting off on green I dread to think. It’s very rare for me to not end up losing it with some driver on a journey. I need to find a way to keep calm.
anyway sounds like you have a nice day planned, enjoy

  • Then you e got mindless drivers who seem to be able to do what they want. Makes me want to roar….

Tell me about it. Seems the majority can do what they want when they want, and never seem to get caught. Nearby where I live there's this black Ford that's being driven by two young men who drive very dangerously and frighten pedestrians, and they have been reported dozens of times and they are still out and about driving. I saw them on Wednesday revving at people. It's crazy.

  • Hi Bunny. It's a weird one isn't it, it's always instinctive to me at least to get aside for an emergency vehicle when it's in an emergency, though most I notice don't actually do this.

Thank you, yes definitely going to put this week behind me it's been a long and tiring one lol. I was very tired last night, so sorry for venting all this out. I was tired and overwhelmed yesterday.

It might be better to save your energy for other, hopefully more positive things? And put this upsetting week behind you.

So true. Today I intend to be very productive, I'm going to go for a walk and do some drawing and then possibly some painting if my brushes are ok.

Hope you have a lovely weekend Slight smile

  • I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this is what the London ambulance service says about situations like that:

“Please avoid pulling into bus lanes or cycle lanes. The ambulance crew are trained to negotiate traffic and may look to use the bus lane to pass, and you could get in their way or even get a ticket.”

    https://www.londonambulance.nhs.uk/about-us/what-we-do/advice-on-what-to-do-as-a-motorist-if-you-encounter-an-ambulance/

If it’s any consolation, I suspect that many of us here might have done the same. But at least by sharing your very unfortunate experience, we can learn from it together.

Before lodging any complaint about the email that you received, it’s perhaps worth keeping in mind that the author might be dyslexic and/or autistic (re spelling and bluntness).

It might be better to save your energy for other, hopefully more positive things? And put this upsetting week behind you.

  • Sorry to hear that. Seems like a perfectly good reason to me, not sure why they are so heavy handed with people trying to do the right thing. Then you e got mindless drivers who seem to be able to do what they want. Makes me want to roar….
