Goggle Box thread w/c 28 Apr 2025 - Film of the week: Star Wars The Last Jedi

Hi and welcome to another Goggle Box thread, where I post about what film I picked this week and invite you to post about anything you've watched on the Goggle Box lately. It hasn't had a lot of interest so far - last week my movie pick was Yes Man and all except one person said No Man - haha!

My movie this week is Star Wars episode 8 The Last Jedi. I watched episode 7 (The Force Awakens) at Christmas and enjoyed that, and I've only just got round to watching the next one. Usually I choose a film available to watch for free on a catchup service, but this one I rented from Amazon prime for £3.49. I haven't seen it all yet - I'll watch the rest this evening - but I'm enjoying it. I'm really impressed by the acting of Mark Hamill and the younger actors playing Rey and Finn. It's a much more grown up and thought provoking trilogy than the prequel one. Oh, and the Porgs are adorable

P!ease post your views of this movie if you've seen it, or let us know what you've been watching recently.

  • I like the original trilogy, and I'm surprised to be enjoying this one as I was not impressed by episodes 1-3.

You say you don't want to watch it again, which suggests you have watched it before, so what are your thoughts? Why didn't you like it as much as the original ones?

Or if you don't want to post a review of this film, what are you watching on TV?

  • I’ve watched pretty much all the Star Wars films. Episodes 1 to 3 were really bad, especially 1 and 2.  7 to 9 were just average, re using a lot of the old ideas sadly. I think the only Star Wars film in recent history worth watching is Rogue One. Sorry Lotus I am big Star Wars fan and it’s a shame that the films that I love were spoiled.
