What is your avatar?

Hiya, when I joined this forum a few weeks ago my avatar was a picture of me, but I was advised to change it due to privacy guidelines, so I chose my current avatar.

It's a picture that I took myself, and it shows a section of a derelict building reflected along the canal in Sheffield.

It's the same canal where the opening scene of The Full Monty was filmed in the 90s. It's a really interesting walk from the city centre to Meadowhall.  If you ever visit then it's worth a look, but don't enter Meadowhall on a weekend. It's sensory hell!

  • Hi.

My avatar is one I found online. I feel I can really relate to it as he has a mask over his own face, as I often feel I do over my real face. When I first found it, it just felt right and kinda made for me.

Your picture is excellent, you are obviously a very talented photographer. I enjoy photography but not the best at it for sure.
Unrelated to the thread, but I love old and derelict buildings. They have so much charm and history about them, it's fascinating. Slight smile

    Cory.

  • What a cool idea, and so appropriate as an autistic person. I often feel that way too, and when we've been doing it for years it's often hard to know which face is the real one anymore. When I'm not masking I feel that I often have a resting sad face, but that could be the initial rest after having to mask for a long period, so that might be me being hard on myself. If my mood is good then my true face can be neutrally open and generally curious about the world.

Thank you. I like taking photos but could do with some proper training I think. I also love old buildings, and even though I'm not religious I love churches and cathedrals. The history and attention to detail, and the familiar smell and quiet inside.
