Same meaning - different wording?

Does anybody get this situation?

You're in a group discussion and you state your opinion on the matter, and people disregard it or dismiss it out of hand. Then, someone else will have their say and they get everyone nodding their  heads in agreement, in spite of the fact they have just aired the same opinion as you did  but worded it differently. You thinking to yourself, "that's exactly what I was saying!"

This has happened so many times, I've felt like I'm speaking an alien language!

  • Yes I have quite often experienced it, mostly at work. I am mostly not very good in groups especially so my verbal communication in these situations isn’t good. So I don’t think people understand what I am saying and if I am asked to clarify or repeat it gets worse! Far better with written stuff…..

  • I agree with you on the written stuff. It's like when I type on here or Facebook. I can at least read back what you put and chop and change it, so it makes more NT sense. You can't rewind a conversation and re-say it. When it's said, it's said and any revision you try to make makes you sound like you're backtracking, so you wind up feeling more ridiculous than you already feel!

Plus, if you're anything like me, you go back and edit it, and re-edit and re-re-... you get the gist. GrinThumbsup
