Help with medics

I've been taken to hospital twice recently in an ambulance and once arrived at A&E my wife that's also my carer has been told to wait in the waiting room until they book me in etc.

For obvious reasons I really want her to be with me all the time and for her to be able to have involvement in my treatment and care in hospital etc.  Im also happy for my medical records etc to be discussed with her where needed.

Do anyone have any idea on how I can arrange this and get it in place. Simply saying doesn't seem to work.

I live in Scotland but even if you have advice from England I can try find something similar up here.

Many thanks for reading and helping if you can.

  • Hi Anil A.

Its not not that I was treated unfairly as such but more that the A&E Dept staff didn't allow my wife to be with me when first admitted, something that would have helped me understand and keep calm but something that I couldn't communicate at the time.

My GP has a note on my KISS record that I give permission for all my medical notes etc can be discussed with her. Again this didn't help at the time.

I generally find that a lot of the initial medical profesionals you meet in emergency situations don't always have the time to listen to what my wife is trying to say on my behalf and I was wondering what others do or what can be done to help avoid this situation.
