Last week I asked my letting agent if they could arrange for my bed base/divan to be removed and my letting agent said that the furniture company would be in touch to arrange a collection.
On Monday 7th of April I came home in the afternoon to find that my bed had been stripped and the sheets left in a pile. The bed base hadn't been removed. I received no warning or notice that anyone was coming.
I contacted my letting agent about this and they said it wouldn't happen again. Yesterday (8th of April) I got a call from 'Sam' wanting to arrange the collection. We arranged that I could leave the bed base outside my door for the following day (9th of April) and that entry wouldn't be necessary.
I usually work in the mornings but today I had an early cancellation so I was home. At around 9.20am I had an unexpected knock on my door, and then a key was inserted and one of their employees tried to gain entry, again WITHOUT permission. He said he "was just checking to see if there was anything else", and got told no very firmly. I want to know what he thought he was going to take if I wasn't in the room.
This is an unacceptable violation of my tenant privacy rights and permission/consent needs to gained before entry into my private space. This has caused me to lose work and cancel 2 clients today because I didn't feel safe to leave my space knowing that their workers were still in the building, had a key to my property and have no understanding of or respect for tenant privacy.
I also feel awful because it's caused a huge energy drain due to trying to regulate all day and feeling stupid for feeling the way I do about it. I hate that things like this can knock out my whole day.
If I don't hear from them tomorrow I'll be calling them to kick off! I'm still so mad.
