Most recent posts not displaying correctly

Hello all

We note that some threads with new content are not moving to the top of the “recent posts” list on the Online Community Home page.

We're sorry that this is not working correctly and have asked the technical team to investigate why this is happening and will fix the issue as soon as possible.

In the meantime, if you use the search function to locate the thread you're interested in, you can then bookmark it:

How do I bookmark a thread?
  1. Go to the thread you would like to bookmark.
  2. Select the bookmark icon at the top right-hand corner (next to your profile picture).
  3. Select ‘Bookmark this forum thread’.
  4. To manage your bookmarked threads, select ‘View all’.
  5. This will direct you to all the content you have bookmarked.

I hope this is helpful.

Many thanks

Sharon Mod

  • I'm sorry - whilst I appreciate the (undoubted) efforts of Rosie MOD and Sharon MOD to try and do a good thing by posting here...........the "system" is not working.......and the advice given here to "counter" the problems is SIMPLY NOT WORKING!

If I am not allowed to hide in the shadows........so be it.

Answers are now to be sought through legal means, via proxy.

  • Unfortunately the fault persists.

This thread was replied to this evening

RE: What wildlife have you seen recently?

It came to 'home' briefly then disappeared.

Screenshots are on the 'list of things wrong' thread.

  • Bumping for anyone who didn't see this.

  • Great.

    Many thank yous.

  • Dear Online Community users,

We have now received an explanation for the change in the way threads appear in the ‘Recent Posts’ list on the Online Community homepage.

Our technical partners recently reduced the number of threads displayed in the 'Recent Posts' list to minimise spam accounts. However, we were unaware that this change would prevent older threads from appearing when they receive new comments.

To improve this, we have now adjusted the settings so that threads up to 12 months old will appear in the ‘Recent Posts’ list when they receive new activity. Any threads older than 12 months will no longer be shown in this list, even if someone comments on them.

So that you can continue to comment on older popular threads, you may want to bookmark your favourite threads for quick access and select ‘Turn reply notifications on’ so you will be notified when another user publishes a comment.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Kind Regards,
    The Moderation Team

  • It's been a bit confusing seeing the same old threads at the top. Bookmarking is a good workaround for now.
