Silly walks and silly states

Has anyone else noticed the way so many countries militaries have silly walks and it often seems the more dictatorial the state or leader the sillier the walk. I wonder if it shows a lack of confidence? Older countries seem to have more "normal" forms of military walks and marches.

  • I know who you mean, I wonder where that costume came from? I often wonder who comes up with these costumes walks and marches? I get that the costumes are often historical like our beefeaters, but It still amazes me that they're still worn. I also wonder at the discipline of the soldiers doing these walks, I wouldn't be able to stop laughing.

  • The exception being the Greek Efzones, an old old culture, a democracy, and the silliest walk imaginable - all done in pleated skirts, tights and with a pompom on the toe of each shoe!
