Trying to stop email subscriptions on threads

Hi, I'm having some trouble with the email subscriptions which come through every time someone posts in a thread I've posted in - I have my email account linked up to my phone and would rather not get a message every time somebody posts in every single thread I've ever taken part in, and I'd rather find out at "forum time".

I want to retain the functionality because it'll keep me posted on big topics when things are quiet, but I'm trying to individually unsubscribe from posts and it's just not working.

I go to Email Settings on the side-panel, and find the post I want to stop watching. First I try clicking the bin icon ("stop watching this post"). It takes me to a page saying "Access denied - you followed an invalid link - you are not authorised to view this page".

So I go back to Email Settings, and try clicking the text and icon that says "Click to Disable". The icon next to the text has a mail letter, with a green circle and a tick on it - when I click, this green circle w/tick turns into a red hexagon with a cross... But then it instantly changes back to the green circle w/tick!

I think the forums are trolling me. Help!
Thanks

  • At least it is an improvement on the email based discussion groups that used to be the only way of doing this. I subscribed to the Clare Sainsbury forum at the end of its span, and some days I actually got as many as a hundred emails, mostly dialogue I wasn't interested in. But that was the only way you could communicate.

I see your point about using your phone to read emails. I guess this is something NAS Moderators need to address, because it may be discouraging others from getting involved. Many people use mobile phones to interface with email.

They need to provide an option not to receive email alerts, as well as the facility to unsubscribe from individual threads, and provide a simple way of doing so without the glitches you describe. Very annoying..
